There was a time when EVs were hard to love. Too few charging stations, shorter battery ranges, and higher sticker prices were all barriers, even for the eco-conscious. But we’ve come a long way – chargers are everywhere, ranges are longer than ever, and all-in-all EVs are downright economical. Folks just didn’t know.

Our campaign for San Diego Gas & Electric took on those barriers to adoption and knocked them down with relatable charm and compelling facts, leading people to the natural conclusion; It’s time to LOVELECTRIC.

In the first phase of the campaign we tested messaging using programmatic display. We then took our learnings and created targeted video assets that proved to be incredibly effective. There’s One and Stranded were written by Melissa Webber. Car Seats by myself and Daniel Bremmer.

The striking new Range Rover Evoque will catch people’s attention from every window, street corner, store-front and apartment window – from every angle and from all walks of life.

We call it “The Power of Distraction”.

This global idea was activated across every media touchpoint imaginable, with the added complexity of delivering assets optimized for different markets and an ever changing landscape of media channels. This campaign ran to a couple of thousand assets - from cinemagraphs to influencer programs and everything in between. We even collaborated up with the Master & Dynamic audio company to create special wireless headphones inspired by the Evoque's copper and silver design accents.

Postscript: The people have spoken: after tens of thousands of comments on social media (YouTube, Twitter, Shazam) and hundreds of direct requests the song ‘A place in my heart’ by Dom James ft. This is the campaign that gave Jaguar back its bite. What started as a brief to launch the F-Type during the Super Bowl become a multi-chapter brand campaign, running for several years. This deceptively simple idea gave Jaguar a story that spun into social, mid-funnel, retail, partnerships, activations, experiences and branded content with huge cultural impact. It fundamentally changed the way that JLR approached it’s marketing.

In-N-Out Burger are committed to ending human trafficking. Their Slave 2 Nothing foundation raises money for a wide array of organizations that bring much-needed support to victims, allowing them to recover and look forward to a happy life. With no purchased media, during a pandemic lockdown when folks couldn’t eat in their restaurants (but they could in their car), we activated a POS campaign that still raised over $320,000 in the first month alone.

Web sites, online advertising, e-marketing, microsites, dynamic banners - I’ve done it all as an early pioneer of all things digital. The highlight is the JLR website redesign and build - a two year project which keeps winning awards - year after year it consistently ranks in the top 3 of J.D. Power’s Highest Ranked Luxury Sites and Automotive Site surveys. I led the development of the UX, design, digital tone of voice, content production and build phases. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Land Rover, we took some of the most famous ads from the past - TV as well as print - and gave them a new spin to run on social media and our own channels. Quality never ages.

The Atlantic Re:think and Land Rover present Scoring the Drive with Hans Zimmer.

The visceral feeling of driving a Range Rover on the winding roads of Angeles Crest Highway, high in the San Gabriel Mountains, is an inspiring experience. We invited award-winning composer Hans Zimmer to embark on this very journey with the goal of creating a score inspired by and unique to this unparalleled drive.

Jaguar F-TYPE — Burning Desire.

Building desire for the most anticipated new car from Jaguar in 50 years: the Jaguar F-TYPE. This was a three-year project, telling the car’s story from development through launch and beyond. A fully integrated campaign, it was shortlisted in Campaign's Big Awards 2013 as well as for several other global awards.

We pushed every channel to deliver breakthrough work as well as commissioning Lana Del Ray to write a launch song and promote the car to millions through social channels.

We also collaborated with Brooklyn Brothers and RSA to make a pretty cool film starring Damien Lewis.

In 1957 a Land Rover called Grizzly Torque took two Canadian adventurers to 19 countries for an unforgettable journey that has become Land Rover folklore. This emotional film reunites them with the vehicle that took them Above and Beyond.

Co-Op in the US is a fintech which provides solutions to other Co-Ops (a bit confusing I know). We developed their new customer-centric positioning platform “Make every experience matter’ and worked with a design partner on an updated CI and mnemonic. These are the films we made to bring their new positioning to life.

We also create various ‘thought pieces’ for them, such as this research video - these are used throughout the business and shown at their annual thought leadership conference Think.

This social campaign was triggered by the weather. Using geo-targeting and a weather api we served relevant content to social channels before, during and after weather events.

As part of the 30th anniversary Range Rover we reimagined the very first Range Rover print ad. Created specifically for deployment on social media platforms, it outperformed all previous Land Rover posts by over 400% in both paid and organic. It has been cited by Facebook as the most successful Paid Instagram Story by an automotive brand and was showcased by Facebook as best-in-class creative at Cannes and at the World Automotive Summit in Detroit.

Jaguar needed to shift negative Jaguar brand perceptions from old and stodgy to modern and technologically focused. As a result, our objectives were to increase positive brand awareness and decrease negative quality and technology perceptions of Jaguar.

To accomplish this, we elaborated upon the “British Villains” storyline by introducing a mastermind character called the ‘Boffin’, a scientific whiz who acted like the villains’ doppelganger of James Bond’s “Q”. Portrayed by X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Nicholas Hoult, the Boffin - in his underground innovation lab - developed all the latest Jaguar technology used by our villains in their cunning plans.

A unique test drive experience: Doubling online shopping activity and showroom traffic through storytelling.

Launching the Jaguar XE in the heart of the premium luxury sedan market requires different strategies than just the traditional broadcast approach.

Targeting a new, younger and digitally connected consumer a pre-order program for XE was born – creating an opportunity for consumers to experience the car and ultimately learn about the Jaguar brand. This experience allowed XE intenders and those interested in the Jaguar brand to get a behind-the-scenes access into the cinematic world of Jaguar and be among the first in the U.S. to drive the all-new car.

The program was titled “The Art of Performance Tour” – with digital technology, driver connectivity and socially shareable content at its core. This multi-city, six-month tour let consumers drive the car, those test drivers became the hero in a very short action film ready to be shared after their experience via their social channels. The events were promoted through Facebook and Instagram to let people share the experience. It started with “The Audition”.

Paid social for each city was used to drive RSVPs leveraging content created from each prior event. Eight influencers were engaged to support with posts on their channels and also create numerous image assets to be used on Jaguar’s owned social channels. Key Jaguar owners created 12,000 content threads alone. An amazing partnership with Instagram and Facebook helped bring this unique experience to life.

Amongst other accolades, The Art of Performance Tour was named the best interactive campaign of the year at the MediaPost Marketing Automotive Awards.

We have overseen and activated Jaguar and Land Rover’s long running product placement deal with the Bond franchise.

Recently, we connected Land Rover and National Geographic to create the show ‘Return To The Nile’ featuring Ranulph and Joseph Fiennes.

We also managed to convince Anthony Bourdain to drive a Land Rover in Parts Unknown, commissioned an entire episode of Car Matchmaker dedicated to Jaguar and are planning to send Bear Grylls into space with Virgin Galactic.

The Jaguar F-PACE – a luxury crossover SUV with the heart of a Jaguar.

This was a fun one - we projected footage of a running Jaguar against the walls and scenery of Vancouver. The hardest part of this job was finding footage of a Jaguar cat.
